UN DAY 2023: 60 Years of Partnership in Development, Humanitarian Assistance and Peacebuilding Support

Excellency Sheikh Salem Abdallah Al Jaber AlSabah, Minister of Foreign Affairs "Through its pursuit of peace and development worldwide, the United Nations has saved millions of lives and improved millions more.

This occasion is an opportunity to say thank you and recommit ourselves to upholding the principles and goals enshrined in the United Nations Charter, namely strengthening international cooperation to ensure global peace, security, and prosperity.

Tonight’s celebration, dear friends, coincides with another significant milestone, namely the State of Kuwait’s 60th anniversary of its membership in the United Nations. 

Our enduring cooperation and strategic partnership established over the years reflect our deep-rooted commitment to the mission and Charter of the United Nations."

Ms. Ghada Eltaher, Representative of UN Secretary-General and Resident Coordinator:" This 60-year milestone is not only a time for reflection; it is a call for even greater action. Kuwait and the United Nations are committed to continue strengthening this collaboration to address emerging challenges, such as climate change, terrorism, poverty, pandemics and clean energy. It is through true global partnership and multilateralism that we can strive towards shared prosperity as an effective partner to maintain international peace and security.
