I am pleased to stand before you today to celebrate the signing of the memorandum of understanding between the United Nations and the Kuwait Institute for Judicial and Legal Studies. This important event not only represents a pivotal moment in our shared commitment to justice, but also highlights the collaborative efforts of the various UN agencies dedicated to supporting this endeavour. Today’s signing of the Memorandum of Understanding demonstrates a commitment to strengthening justice, the rule of law and human rights in Kuwait and beyond.
The Kuwait Institute for Judicial and Legal Studies has been and continues to be at the forefront of legal education and research, and this partnership will work to achieve the goal of the memorandum of understanding and cooperation with United Nations agencies through their relevant bodies in areas of common interest, which are:
1. Strengthening technical cooperation and exchange in various fields related to law and justice in the State of Kuwait.
2. Support, enhance, build capacity and mutual learning as needed.
3. Holding joint programs online or in person in cooperation with relevant United Nations agencies, funds and programs to support the State of Kuwait in the fields of justice, law, human rights and research.
The alignment of our goals and values in striving for a society in which the principles of justice and law are upheld is the primary motivation for this honorable gathering today. This MoU demonstrates our joint commitment to building capacity, exchanging knowledge, enhancing legal expertise, and working to empower legal professionals as a practical step towards creating tangible positive change. Our cooperation through key UN agencies mandated to contribute their expertise and resources to advance the objectives set out in the Memorandum of Understanding includes playing a vital role in providing technical assistance and capacity building initiatives, ensuring that the Kuwait Institute for Judicial and Legal Studies has the tools necessary to achieve success in its mission.
Joint efforts will work to establish A comprehensive framework to strengthen the rule of law in Kuwait and promote a fair, comprehensive legal environment compatible with international standards. In conclusion, as we begin this partnership and cooperation journey, the United Nations affirms its obligation, through its various concerned agencies, to work with dedication and highlight its pivotal role in supporting the Kuwait Institute for Judicial and Legal Studies. Together, we are not just signing a Memorandum of Understanding, we are forging a path towards a more just and equitable future.
