Signing a Memorandum of Understanding between the Kuwait Institute for Judicial and Legal Studies and the United Nations in the State of Kuwait
The signing ceremony of the memorandum of understanding between the Kuwait Institute for Judicial and Legal Studies and the United Nations in the State of Kuwait. In the presence of the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Justice, His Excellency Counselor Hashim Al-Qallaf, and the representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Counselor Muhammad Al-Amiri, Deputy Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs for International Organization Affairs and my representative on behalf of the General Secretariat of the Supreme Council for Planning and Development. Ms. Ghada Al-Taher, Representative of the Secretary-General of the United Nations and Resident Coordinator, stated: “This important event not only represents a pivotal moment in our shared commitment to justice, but also highlights the collaborative efforts of the various United Nations agencies dedicated to supporting this endeavor.
Today's signing of the Memorandum of Understanding demonstrates a commitment to promoting justice, the rule of law and human rights in Kuwait and beyond. This partnership will work to achieve the goal of the memorandum of understanding and cooperation with United Nations agencies through their relevant bodies in areas of common interest, which are:
1. Strengthening technical cooperation and exchange in various fields related to law and justice in the State of Kuwait.
2. Support, enhance, build capacity and mutual learning as needed.
3. Holding joint programs online or in person in cooperation with relevant United Nations agencies, funds and programs to support the State of Kuwait in the fields of justice, law, human rights and research. The alignment of our goals and values in striving for a society in which the principles of justice and law are upheld is the primary motivation for this honorable gathering today.
This memorandum of understanding also demonstrates our joint commitment to building capacity, exchanging knowledge, enhancing legal expertise, and working to empower legal professionals, as it is a practical step towards creating tangible positive change. Our cooperation through key UN agencies mandated to contribute their expertise and resources to advance the objectives set out in the Memorandum of Understanding includes playing a vital role in providing technical assistance and capacity building initiatives, ensuring that the Kuwait Institute for Judicial and Legal Studies has the tools necessary to achieve success in its mission. Joint efforts will work to establish A comprehensive framework to strengthen the rule of law in Kuwait and promote a fair, comprehensive legal environment that is compatible with international standards.”
His Excellency Counselor Hani Al-Hamdan, Director General of the Judicial Institute, added: “We sign a memorandum of understanding between the Kuwait Institute for Judicial and Legal Studies and the United Nations in the State of Kuwait, which is the memorandum that was translated by the will of the parties to enhance ways of cooperation and partnership and support the capabilities of both parties.”
