The Young Ambassadors Engage with Excellencies the Permanent Representatives at the UN
On November 5th, 2024, our new Young Ambassadors gathered at the Kuwait Diplomatic Institute to engage in an engaging and thoughtful Q&A session with a panel of Permanent Representatives to the @unitednations . This marked the first and highly successful event for Season 3 of the Young Ambassador Programme, following last week’s launch. The event began with welcome remarks from H.E. Belinda Lewis, the British Ambassador to the State of Kuwait, followed by introductions of the following Permanent Representatives:
- H.E. Amb. Tareq Albanai, Permanent Representative of the State of Kuwait to the United Nations
- H.E. Amb. Adonia Ayebare, Permanent Representative of the Republic of Uganda to the United Nations
- H.E. Amb. Jamal Fares Alrowaiei, Permanent Representative of the Kingdom of Bahrain to the United Nations
- H.E. Amb. José Alfonso Blanco Conde, Permanent Representative of the Dominican Republic to the United Nations
- H.E. Amb. Vanessa Frazier, Permanent Representative of the Republic of Malta to the United Nations
- H.E. Amb. Taher M. T. El-Sonni, Permanent Representative of the Republic of Libya to the United Nations
- H.E. Amb. Menissa Rambally, Permanent Representative of Saint Lucia to the United Nations
- H.E. Amb. Jonibek Ismoil Hikmat, Permanent Representative of the Republic of Tajikistan to the United Nations
- H.E. Amb. Mohamed Abushahab, Permanent Representative of the United Arab Emirates to the United Nations
The event featured an engaging and interactive Q&A session, where the Young Ambassadors posed questions to the Permanent Representatives on topics such as peace and security, humanitarian aid, and their career paths. The transparent and passionate dialogue also touched on navigating difficult decisions, overcoming challenges, and delved into critical global issues such as water scarcity, the veto power in the UN, and Security Council reform.
The event concluded with closing remarks by H.E. Mrs. Aliya Mawani, the Ambassador of Canada to the State of Kuwait.
