From Idea to Reality:

The United Nations in the State of Kuwait led by the UN Resident Coordinator Office and WHO successfully worked with communities in implementing a non-conventional partnership between a research institute, communities and international organization, in their efforts to encourage entities and individuals to take action in supporting agenda 2030 and creating a local movement to support tackle a global challenge believing that we all can contribute and each one of us can make a difference.

With an initiative to improve the smart lifestyle, green cities and putting words into actions for climate change, the United Nations in Kuwait collaborated with the Australian College (Engineering school) by integrating clean energy projects in their 2022- 2023 curriculum, developing a solar powered golf carts using recycled items to reduce the production cost and to maintain and build them for the use of gardening and greening in relation to the healthy cities program.

The initiative projects the sustainable development goals of the United Nations to create more smart, green, and healthy cities with sustainable communities, community led initiatives and non- conventional partnerships focusing on youth empowerment and encouragement of the usage of Eco-friendly products.

On May 16th, 2023, the UN, AU and Healthy cities launched the prototype in Al-Shamiya healthy city in the presence of Mr. Naser Al-Shatti – Head of UN Resident Coordinator Office – Development Coordinator and Strategic Planning, Al-Shamiya City Governor Mr. Ibrahim Al-Mishaal, MOH Healthy Cities Director office Dr. Amal Al-Yahia, WHO and representatives from the healthy cities in Kuwait.

This project is the first of its kind in Kuwait where students and a research institute collaborate for the betterment of healthy cities communities. Strategically planning to create similar project for the upcoming academic years.
